This project paints the stories from children of immigrants, starting with the artist herself. Delicately painted to depict memories from growing up, the paintings are displayed alongside fencing on 14th street. The works are meant to be seen as one walks by, almost like reading a story. These paintings highlight what it means to grow up differently than the collective norm, bringing light to new stories and previously marginalized voices.

Natalie Jauregui-Ortiz is a Mexican-American artist from the Bay Area and based in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a BA from the University of California – Santa Cruz. Her work is focused on portraiture, figurative work, and sometimes still lives. She is an oil painter and advocate for marginalized voices.
