LOCATION
At Large
A performance intervention that centers around a cry for help, the ramifications of silencing, and the community-building essential to rebuild one's life. The piece addresses Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The roaming performance will be a gesture of tapped morse code on the body leaving a visible mark. The performance negotiates a large garment created from woven contributions made by women across the United States, Canada, and the UK as a symbol of community, support, and comfort. Even with support, navigating PTSD is an ongoing pursuit.
Heather Sincavage is a performance artist who studies gender-based violence and its ramifications. Her work has appeared at the Tate Modern; during Itinerant at the Queens Museum, Grace Exhibition Space; Alive at Satellite during Miami Art Week; and galleries across the United States and Europe.
